Around 400 Veterans will march on Parliament today in protest at the decision to axe a battalion of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (RRF) amid claims the move defies "military logic".

Dozens of MP's are set to call on the Government to reconsider the decision to disband the 2nd battalion, which critics claim was motivated by a "political fix" rather than an assessment by defence chiefs.

Ministers will be accused of axing the battalion under the Army cuts programme in order to avoid scrapping Scottish units ahead of the 2014 referendum on independence.
