Jonathan Brownlee takes world triathlon title from brother
Britain's Jonathan Brownlee has succeeded his brother Alistair as the triathlon world champion, following a second place finish behind Spain's Javier Gomez in the ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final in Auckland, New Zealand.
Gomez out-sprinted Brownlee in a thrilling finish to win the elite men's race, covering a 1.5 kilometre, 40km cycle and 10km run in two hours and 29 seconds - winning by two seconds.
Gomez took second place behind the Olympic bronze medalist in the overall series standings.
