Burma quake death toll rises

A major earthquake in central Burma on Sunday near Mandalay has killed as many as 12 people, Reuters reports. Several construction workers have also been reported missing following the 6.6 magnitude quake.

An earthquake that has killed five people in Burma comes just a week ahead of a scheduled visit to the country by the newly re-elected President Barack Obama.

He will be the first US president to visit the one-time pariah nation, which is emerging from decades of military rule.
