Ofcom chief new favourite to replace Entwistle at BBC

The Chief Executive of Ofcom, Ed Richards, has emerged as the early frontrunner to succeed George Entwistle as Director-General of the BBC, according to Labrokes.

The bookmaker said Mr Richards had been elevated to the top of the list after heavy backing since Mr Entwistle's departure last night.

Mr Richards is rated at 2/1 to land the job, ahead of former BBC chief operating officer Caroline Thomson at 5/2.
