The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) has said that it targeted approximately one hundred sites of what it called, "medium and long range rocket launch and infrastructure sites across the Gaza Strip," overnight.
They released cockpit footage of some of the strikes:
In a statement the IDF said: "The aim of targeting these sites is to impair the rocket launching capability of terror organizations in the Gaza strip and damage their further build up."
Today's bombing in Tel Aviv is reminiscent of six years ago and could mark a serious escalation in the conflict.
A truce in Gaza suits all sides but none of the groups seem interested in a long-lasting solution.
A complex system of air defences has been instrumental in protecting Israel's population from incoming rockets.
