A senior Labour source suggested the party may secure a majority of 4,000 in the Corby by-election, with the Tories in second place. The unnamed source said:
We are increasingly optimistic about a good win in Corby. Turnout is looking as if it will be 45% and the Tory and Lib vote has collapsed.
Ed Miliband claimed that Middle England was turning its back on David Cameron, after Labour won the Corby by-election on a 12.7% swing.
Labour today held Manchester Central and Cardiff South and Penarth constituency seats in their respective by-elections.
