Labour wins Corby by-election

Labour has won the Corby by-election caused by the resignation of the former Conservative MP Louise Mensch. The Lib Dems lost their deposit. Labour have also held seats of Manchester Central and Cardiff South in by-elections.

Labour increasingly optimistic over Corby by-election

A senior Labour source suggested the party may secure a majority of 4,000 in the Corby by-election, with the Tories in second place. The unnamed source said:

We are increasingly optimistic about a good win in Corby. Turnout is looking as if it will be 45% and the Tory and Lib vote has collapsed.
