PCC record-low turnout inquiry

A post-mortem was under way today into the first elections for police commissioners in England and Wales after the poll was marred by a record-low turnout. A detailed inquiry has been ordered by the Electoral Commission.

Low police vote turnout reflected across England

Elections were held in 41 police areas in England and Wales, excluding London:

ITV Westcountry reports that turnout in Devon and Cornwall was 15%.

Turnout in Wiltshire was also around 15% according to ITV Meridian.

And, ITV Granada reports a similar turnout across parts of the north of England.
