PCC record-low turnout inquiry

A post-mortem was under way today into the first elections for police commissioners in England and Wales after the poll was marred by a record-low turnout. A detailed inquiry has been ordered by the Electoral Commission.

PCC elections are a 'comedy of errors' says Labour minister

Labour's Shadow Business Secretary Chuka Umunna has branded the PCC elections a "comedy of errors."

Speaking on ITV's Daybreak, he said: "It's been a total shambles. The money that's been spent on it could have been spent on 3,000 police officers.

"If you're going to have the elections, organise them properly, organise them at a decent time of year.
