Green: 'PCC elections will be measured by results'

Policing minister Damian Green has defended the low turnout at the PCC elections.

He told Daybreak: "I think the measure of this policy will not be the turnout. It will be what the Police and Crime Commissioners achieve over the next few years."

PCC record-low turnout inquiry

A post-mortem was under way today into the first elections for police commissioners in England and Wales after the poll was marred by a record-low turnout. A detailed inquiry has been ordered by the Electoral Commission.
