The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) said it was targeting Hamas communications centres in Gaza after rockets hit two buildings housing journalists in the city.
Releasing a statement via Twitter, the IDF said:
The following are a series of tweets about the IDF targeting of Hamas communications centers in Gaza last night.
Site 1: Hamas comms center, which was in civilian building. IDF only targeted devices on roof & left Hamas offices on 8th floor untouched.
Site 2: Hamas comms equipment on building where several international news orgs are located. Roof antenna hit - rest of building untargeted.
Today's bombing in Tel Aviv is reminiscent of six years ago and could mark a serious escalation in the conflict.
A truce in Gaza suits all sides but none of the groups seem interested in a long-lasting solution.
A complex system of air defences has been instrumental in protecting Israel's population from incoming rockets.
