Report: Mitchell denies giving Dorries' jungle jaunt go-ahead

The former Chief Whip Andrew Mitchell has hit back at claims from Nadine Dorries' daughters that he agreed to give the MP a month off so she could appear on the ITV show I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

Dorries' daughter told ITV1's Daybreak: "She did ask for the month off, she did, she requested it from the Chief Whip at the time, that she's going to go away from a month, that it will be controversial, and he said that's fine."

However Mr Mitchell's office told the Huffington Post that he "was neither asked nor did he agree to Nadine Dorries going off to Australia for a month to take part in I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!"
