Egypt has announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that is set to begin at 7pm UK time. The announcement was made by the Egyptian foreign minister in Cairo alongside US Secretary if State Hillary Clinton.

Number of casualties and attacks since Gaza conflict started

The amount of casualties and attacks since the Gaza conflict started are as follows:

  • 74 Palestinians, both militants and civilians, have been killed in Gaza.
  • 3 Israeli civilians have been killed and 60 injured by Palestinian rockets.
  • Over 1000 rockets have been fired by Gaza militants at southern Israeli communities since the start of the operation.
  • 544 of those rockets exploded inside Israel, the military said.
  • 290 rockets have been intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome missile defence system.
  • 1,200 military targets in Gaza have been hit by Israel, the military claims.
