Diving pigs help Chinese farmers splash out

A Chinese pig farmer has trained his hogs to dive into a pond as a way of attracting visitors to his farm and raising the price of his livestock.

Each of the pigs at the farm in Hunan Province has a pedometer attached to them and are not fed until they have exercised for an hour.

The pigs start learning to dive when they are just one month old. The more experienced divers take the plunge at least three times a day.

Pig farmer Huang Deming said: "My pigs dive every day, no matter [if] it rains or shines.

"Our pigs look and taste better and they are much sought after," he added.

With diving under their belts, the next challenge for the pigs must surely be flying.
