Lord of the Rings volcano erupts in New Zealand

The New Zealand government geological agency GNS Science issued a warning today after Mount Tongariro on the North Island erupted.

The volcano previously erupted in August this year, the first time in more than a century.

Tongariro and the surrounding area featured heavily in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
