The Labour MP Stella Creasy who campaigns against pay-day lenders has said she expects an apology from payday lender Wonga after claims that one of its employee abused her on Twitter.

An anonymous Twitter account accused Creasy of being “mental, “nuts” and a “self-serving ego-maniac”.

Creasy said Wonga was prepared to "stoop to many levels" to defend the industry and that she expects an apology.

Wonga has admitted that a “junior employee” may have made unauthorised comments online and said it was looking into the matter.
