Flooding in Cornish village

There is flooding in the village of Polperro, Cornwall, and the situation has been described by the Environment Agency as "significant and serious". River levels are rising and there is a severe flood warning in place.

The agency warned on its website:

This flooding is happening now so please take appropriate action by moving higher up and not taking any risks.

Risk of floods as rivers swell

Swollen rivers are still at risk of flooding over the next few days, the Environment Agency has said, as icy temperatures take hold of the UK. The rivers Thames, Trent and Severn remain at very high levels despite the improving weather.
