Woman was in a tent when a tree fell and killed her

Inspector Andrew Webber from Devon and Cornwall Police said a tree fell where members of a travelling community were living in tents between midnight and 1am.

Quite a large oak tree fell over and took a large wall out with it when it fell. Various people in the travelling community live around the area. Some of the people live in tents for periods of time, and the tree fell on them. It was really sad. One female of about 21 years of age received fatal injuries, two other males received minor injuries and they are fine and are being treated. They happened to be in a tent, because the area is quite sheltered. They were quite close to the wall. I would expect the tree fell because of the conditions at the time.
