CofE exempt from gay marriage

New legislation will explicitly state that it will be illegal for the established Churches of England and Wales to conduct same-sex marriages, Culture Secretary Maria Miller announced.

Home Secretary: 'Marriage should be for everyone'

Home Secretary Theresa May also emphatically backed same-sex weddings in a video posted in May.

"I believe that if two people care for each other, if they love each other, if they want to commit to each to each other and spend their lives together, then they should be able to get married, and marriage should be for everyone," she said.
