Census: 5.8m provide unpaid care

Ten per cent (5.8 million) of people provided unpaid care for someone with an illness of disability.

Over a third (37 per cent, 2.1 million) of those people were giving 20 or more hours care a week.


Census shows population jump

The population of England and Wales grew by 7.1 percent between 2001 and 2011, census data showed. The proportion of foreign-born residents in the country increased to 13 percent.
