Syria 'fires Scud missiles'

Syrian forces have reportedly fired Scud missiles at rebels in the north of the country. The US state department would not confirm the type but said missiles had been deployed.

Reports: Syria fire 'at least six' scud missiles at rebels

The New York Times is reporting that Syrian forces loyal to President Assad have fired Scud missiles at insurgents.

The paper claims they were fired from the Damascus area at targets in north Syria.

The Daily Telegraph reports that at least six have been fired and that the first was launched on Monday.
