Thousands hold unauthorised anti-Putin rally

Russian riot police detained four opposition leaders on Saturday to stop them taking part in a banned rally against President Vladimir Putin in front of the former KGB security police's headquarters in Moscow.

Thousands of opposition supporters gathered for mass protests for the unauthorised protest, risking arrest and heavy fines. There was a heavy police presence around the approximately 3,000 people who came to Lubyanka Square for the rally.
