Water levels at the River Stour and Smestow Brook in Worcestershire continue to rise due to the rain today and peaking overnight, according to Environment Agency Manager for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Dave Throup.
Mr Throup said that a flood alert has been issued in the area. He added that the River Severn in Worcestershire has "overtopped" the banks, expecting it to rise again as water pushed down from Shrewsbury.
Farmers unable to get winter crops in the ground because their land is waterlogged have told shoppers to expect rising food prices in 2013.
Hundreds of flood warnings are in place across England and Wales, with Scotland warned to prepare for heavy rain.
