Sea search man named

A man who was swept into the sea off Blackpool in the early hours of New Year's Day has been named by police as Paul Morris. The search for the 41-year-old had earlier been called off by coastguards.

Coastguard: Man swept into sea 'unlikely' to have survived

The coastguard has said it is "highly unlikely" a man, who was swept into the sea in gale-force winds has survived.

Stuart Atkinson, watch manager at Crosby Coastguard station, said the strong, westerly gale-force winds made the search operation difficult.
