Brother denies Venezuela's Chavez in a coma

The brother of Hugo Chavez has denied the Venezuelan President is in a coma a month after he underwent surgery in Cuba.

After visiting the Cuban capital of Havana, Adan Chavez said in a statement, "The head of state continues to assimilate treatment well and his recovery is advancing daily".

The cancer-stricken President has not been seen or heard from since undergoing surgery on December 11 - his fourth such operation since being diagnosed in 2011.

"Information on social networks and in other places, saying the President is in a coma and his family are discussing the supposed disconnection of life support equipment, are totally false," he added.
