Millions of people have gathered on the banks of the Ganges, India, to celebrate the Hindu festival of Kumbh Mela.
The festival, which takes place every twelve years in the holy city of Allahabad, started at dawn this morning with Hindu holy men entering the sacred waters.

The Kumbh Mela will see up to 100 million Hindus assembling over the next two months to take a holy bath in the Ganges River in India.
Tomorrow sees the start of the Maha Kumbh Mela - a mass Hindu pilgrimage and the biggest religious event in the world.
