Weather forecasters say that snow could fall across most of the UK by the weekend as the cold snap continues to bring freezing temperatures to many areas.
Eastern areas bore the brunt of the snowfall today with 42 schools closing in Norfolk, the closure of Norwich International Airport and a six-vehicle pile-up on the A11 leaving three people injured.
The Met Office recorded snow depth of 8cm in Norfolk and Suffolk this morning, while the lowest temperature recorded overnight was -5.7C at Altnaharra, located in the Scottish Highlands.
Temperatures are expected to drop everywhere over the weekend, with snow and wintry showers expected in Scotland and down the east coast.
After unseasonably mild weather over the past few weeks it looks like there might be snow over the coming few days.
