Lance Armstrong has said that he regretted making his 2008 come-up after retiring in 2005.
Asked if he was sorry he made a come back, the cyclist told Oprah Winfrey:
We wouldn't be sitting here if I didn't come back.
He said he would have had "much better chances" of 'getting away with it' if he had not returned to cycling.
Lance Armstrong cannot expect to be redeemed after his brief TV confession. Names must be named.
Tyler Hamilton, a former team-mate of Lance Armstrong who implicated him in the doping scandal, has told ITV News, "I'm proud of him".
The self-flagellation makes for gripping television but it does not really amount to much in the long run.
