BGS: Leicestershire earthquake was magnitude 2.9

The British Geological Survey (BGS) has said that the earthquake in Leicestershire had a magnitude of 2.9, compared with the USGS figure of 3.2.

It says the earthquake struck at 5:20am today close to Loughborough.

Earthquake in Leicestershire

A small earthquake has hit Leicestershire early this morning. The British Geological Survey says the magnitude was 2.9 and the epicentre was Loughborough. However the US Geological Society says it was registered as 3.2.
