Earthquake in Leicestershire

A small earthquake has hit Leicestershire early this morning. The British Geological Survey says the magnitude was 2.9 and the epicentre was Loughborough. However the US Geological Society says it was registered as 3.2.

Leicestershire Police: No reports of damage

Leicestershire Police said they had received no reports of any tremours and had not been called out to any incidents.

A spokeswoman said: "We've not received any calls about any tremors or any damage overnight."

A spokesman for the county's fire and rescue service also said it had not received any calls reporting an earthquake.
