Devon and Cornwall Police tonight confirmed a man died following a crash on one of the region's busiest roads.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision on the A38 Parkway in Plymouth, shortly before 6am.
One local man, 42, died from his injuries. His next of kin have been informed, police said.A specialist forensic investigation of the scene took place, resulting in the road being closed for 10 hours.
Officers are investigating whether icy conditions played a part in the crash.
