A 59-year-old man has been arrested as part of the Metropolitan Police's inquiry into allegations of inappropriate payments to police and public officials.
The man, a former healthcare worker, was arrested at approximately 6.30am at his home in Merseyside on suspicion of misconduct in a public office, corruption and suspected conspiracy in relation to both those offences.
He is being interviewed at a Merseyside police station and a search of his property is being conducted.
