A nine-year-old boy had an axe held to his neck by robbers who burst into his family's home on the outskirts of Birmingham.
Police are appealing for help to catch the thieves, who demanded car keys and cash as they threatened the young boy in front of his parents.
West Midlands Police say it was "a truly horrendous ordeal for the family - [the thieves] had complete disregard for the victims."
It happened on Newton Road in Great Barr at around 8pm on Monday night.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
