Charity: Suspected child neglect cases on the rise
As many as nine out of ten teachers, police officers and social workers are regularly coming into contact with children they suspect are suffering from neglect.
According to new research, as many as 40 per cent of them feel they are unable to help.
Action for Children said people feel unable to intervene due to a lack of available services, time and staffing.
The study found that one third of the public who had concerns about a child, did not report it.
