'First time military grenade used to kill in UK'
The court was told how Mark Short was buried in Droylsden Cemetery. David Short went on daily visits to the cemetery to be at the grave and grieve for his son. He went with his partner Michelle and their grandchildren - this was not a secret in the community
The prosecution said that on the morning of August 10 David Short did not go to the cemetery. He had some errands to do, so murderers went to his home and killed him there.
He was chased through the house and shot many times. He tried to run around the side of the house to escape. His injuries were already unsurvivable and then a grenade was thrown onto him .
Its explosion had devastating consequences for his torso. It is the first time in this country a military grenade has been used in this way .
