Bird forces an RAF Chinook helicopter to land in field
An RAF Chinook helicopter was forced to land in a field in Derbyshire when a bird shattered its windscreen, police have confirmed.
The accident forced the aircraft to land in Rowsley, Matlock just before 3pm, although no crew were injured.
An RAF Chinook helicopter made an unscheduled landing in a field off School Lane Rowsley this afternoon when a bird shattered its windscreen.
The helicopter pilot made the precautionary landing just before 3pm because he considered it was unsafe to continue his journey. No damage was caused by the landing and none of the five crew members was injured.
