Pensioner care cap 'to be set at £75,000'

State support for care costs is to be offered to pensioners with savings of up to £123,000, according to a newspaper report.

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt will announce that the means-tested threshold will rise from £23,250 to £123,000, with a sliding scale of support, according to The Sunday Telegraph.

The assets threshold is higher than the £100,000 assets limit recommended by the independent Dilnot Commission appointed by Prime Minister David Cameron to make recommendations on the issue.
