A 10-year-old British girl has died during a family skiing holiday in Austria after she hurtled off piste and crashed into a tree.
The child, who had been wearing a helmet, is understood to have been skiing with her father and brother when she lost control on the slopes at the Mayrhofen resort, situated in the Tirol region.
She was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Inssbruck but died of her injuries yesterday, police said.
