Dementia friends scheme to launch

An ambitious initiative to train one million people as "dementia friends" to help boost volunteering, education and support for the growing number of people with the condition is to be launched.

Volunteers will be able to attend free sessions to learn how to spot the signs of dementia and offer support for sufferers.

The Alzheimer's Society said the sessions, which will be provided in church halls and workplaces, will help to raise awareness of the condition.
