Yorkshire abattoir 'raided' in horsemeat investigation
In the last hour news has surfaced of a development of this scandal here in the UK.
Now there is the suspicion that horsemeat from Yorkshire has been sold in kebabs and burgers purporting to be beef.
Two premises have been raided - that's the word used by the food standards agency. One in west Yorkshire, and one in west Wales. The plant in Yorkshire is in Todmorden and it is owned by Peter Boddy, who I have just spoken to. He said:
It was not a raid - they are welcome to visit whenever they want, they just wanted to see my records which I will be showing them.
He told me that he does slaughter horses at his plant , and that the meat is sold in the UK.
