Police: Casualties believed to be in 'serious condition'

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary has said that the three people airlifted to hospital are "believed to be in a serious condition".

He added that two groups of six people had been in the area at the time of the avalanche, and have now been "walked off" the hill.

Two avalanche victims named

The Ministry of Defence says two of the three people who died after an avalanche in the Scottish Highlands were RAF personnel. Rimon Than, 33, a squadron leader and Flight Lieutenant Fran Capps, 32, were two of the victims.
