The Olympic and Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius is to remain in custody overnight after being charged with murder having allegedly shot dead his girlfriend at his home in Pretoria, South Africa. He will appear in court tomorrow.

Prosecution on Oscar Pistorius court hearing delay

A spokesman for South Africa's Prosecuting Authority has said that Oscar Pistorius will be appear in court on Friday charged with the murder of his girlfriend.

Reeva Steenkamp was shot four times at the Olympic and Paralympic star's house in Pretoria, police said.

Pistorius' court hearing was originally scheduled for this afternoon but was postponed until Friday to give forensic investigators time to carry out their work, said Medupe Simasiku, a spokesman for the prosecution.
