Hollywood rolls out red carpet ahead of the Oscars

Hollywood has already succumbed to its annual bout of Oscar fever, eagerly rolling the red carpet out as film stars appear on Los Angeles' party circuit ahead of the awards.

Nominees Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway have been spotted out and about across the city, along with Brit Eddie Redmayne.

Home hopes at Sunday's ceremony, the 85th Academy Awards, largely lie with Daniel Day-Lewis, who is hot favourite to become the first man to win three best actor Oscars for his performance in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln.

Day-Lewis, backed by bookies at 1-50 to triumph, is shortlisted alongside Les Miserables star Hugh Jackman, Denzel Washington, Joaquin Phoenix and Bradley Cooper.
