RBS paid £607 million in bonuses in 2012

Royal Bank of Scotland said it paid employees £607 million in bonuses in 2012, including £215 million for investment bankers, down from a total pot of £789 million in 2011.

The money to pay for the Libor fine was taken from the company's bonus payments.

RBS announces £5bn losses

The Royal Bank of Scotland has announced losses of £5.16billion - a fifth consecutive annual loss. Chief Executive Stephen Hester described 2012 as a "chastening" year. It was also revealed the bank paid £607m in bonuses in 2012.
