Research shows abuse against vulnerable adults rising
Figures out to day will reveal the level of abuse against vulnerable adults in the UK.
The final report into Abuse of Vulnerable Adults in England 2011-12 is expected to show an 11 per cent increase in reports of abuse.
Provisional figures show that care workers and family are the most common alleged abusers, with English councils referring to 108,000 cases of alleged abuse against vulnerable adults for 2011 to 2012.
The report is also expected to show that the rate of referral in 2011-12 according to population size was highest in the Midlands, with 338 and 322 per 100,000 of the population in the West Midlands and East Midlands respectively.
