Hundreds of tributes have poured in after the death of a much loved black cat who was famous for "sitting on the corner of the road by the chemist" in a Welsh town.
Alfie, known as the Chepstow Cat, died on Tuesday aged 19, according to a message posted on his Facebook page.
It read: "It is with great sadness to say that Alfie passed away peacefully in his sleep at home with his family this morning, Tuesday 12th March 2013 in his 19th year. He will be sorely missed by them and many others. Rest In Peace Alfie x"
Many have now called for a memorial to be made for the "most famous cat in Monmouthshire" who has been described as a "legend".
