Government backs regions plan

The Government has backed plans to devolve greater power to the country's regions. In response to Lord Heseltine's report No Stone Unturned, England's Local Enterprise Partnerships will benefit from £500,000 over the next two years.

Regions are 'best placed' to solve obstacles in the way of jobs

Financial Secretary to the Treasury Greg Clark said the people in the regions are best placed to solve any "obstacles" that stand in the way of jobs.

Highlighting a lack of skills, and infrastructure, he said "the people who can best do something about it, are the people in those towns".
