US State Department ‘concerned’ about Syria weapons

The US State Department has said it is “quite concerned” that Syria’s Assad government will resort to non-conventional weapons, according to reports.

It said it had “no reason to believe” reports that Syrian rebels had used chemical weapons.

Syria's Information Minister Omran al-Zoabi said the country's armed forces would never use internationally banned weapons, after the government and rebels traded blame for what both sides said was a chemical weapon attack near Aleppo.
