Steven Bruck, a partner at Blick Rothenberg Chartered Accountants, replied: "In the short term, not a lot i'm afraid. The tax-free personal allowance goes up to £10,000 in April 2014, so that will help to keep your tax bill down. If you drink beer you'll notice (or not) a reduction of 1p per pint.
"Also, in September your petrol won't go up through increased tax - but increased oil prices and the fall in the Pound probably means it will go up for other reasons. Your best hope is that the Chancellor will succeed in getting the economy going and this will help you in the long run.
"He seems to have maintained his promise of ring-fencing the health service budget. So, that's good news."
