Taxpayer-backed Lloyds has announced it paid 25 staff members a salary of more than £1 million last year.

The bank's total bonus pool came to £365 million, the Lloyds Banking Group's Annual Report and Accounts confirmed - a three per cent drop on 2011's figure of £375 million.

The average value of bonuses per employee was £3,900, which Lloyds stressed was the lowest among the UK's leading banks.

Lloyds lost £570 million last year after dealing with costs relating to mis-sold payment protection insurance.
