The gunman who killed 26 people, including 20 children, in a shooting spree in a US elementary school fired 155 bullets in less than five minutes. Court papers released reveal he also had several additional firearms not used in the attack.

Obama supports mothers' call for new gun safety laws

President Obama will today join forces with a group of mothers in demanding "common-sense measures" to protect children from gun violence in the wake of the Newtown massacre.

Mr Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will both appear at the event organised by 'Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America' to call on Congress to adopt the new safety laws, the White House said.
